A New Chapter...
How Did It All Begin?

Like any typical high school teenage girl, I would go to the mall after school with my best friend, but on certain days of the week, my best friend would rush me and tell me to hurry because she didn't want to be late for class. Class? What class, I asked?
I decided to go with her one day and see what motivated her to NOT want to miss out on these "classes".
What intriqued me most was that my best friend, being the same age I was, (we were 15 years old by the way)...and a petite 5' 2"  was one of two girls in a class of about twenty-five grown men. She kicked, punched and had the same, if not more intensity and power than all of them put together!
I was amazed with the dynamic kicks and intensity that these people were executing...so after consistently begging my mother to enroll me in classes, I began my journey to Black Belt when I was 17 years old. I never realized that it would change my life...forever...

My Personal Journey to Black Belt

I studied under the instruction of Master Lee Lawler in Daly City, CA. In 1989, I juggled the position as a part-time receptionist at the school, answering phones and light paperwork, but managed to leave the desk for an hour to train! At Advanced Red Belt, I was the first to earn the "Red Uniform" which was earned and worn only by an elite team of individuals who aspired to one day earn thier Instructorship.
I competed for the first time in Women's Fighting and brought home 2nd place; considering I was a Brown belt competing against Black Belts, I thought I did well, but I was determined to take home the gold!  Three years later, I entered the same tounament, earning the title as Women's Grand Champion, but  then decided the tournament scene was really not for me. It was teaching...
"My philosophy is..Teach every individual as if you were teaching a class of a thousand,
but teach the thousand as if THEY were the only one in class..."
